E7 Visa Requirements

E7 visa is called Special designated activities visa.

And these activities are allowed for foreigners who want to do economical activity. Special designated activities are appointed by Korean government and the activities contain certain types of position or occupation foreigners can engage.

To be hired by Korean industries and companies, foreigners should be qualified enough to obtain E7 visa and have certain education level and 1 year or more work experience on the relevant field.

Many foreigners who are currently staying Korea, obtain E7 visa through changing status of stay. Especially, foreign students with D2 visa or Job seeking visa holders (D10) have a lot of interest on E7 visa. The requirements for changing status of stay to E7 visa are met for these visa holders.

E7 Visa Requirements

① Achieved Korean University Diploma (Bachelor's degree) and work experience is nor required.

② Korean companies hire less than 5 Korean laborers or if the company has hired E7 laborers more then 20% of Korean laborers are not able to hire foreigners.

*With permission or recommendation from relevant official organization it is able to hire not more than 50% of Korean laborers.

③ The monthly or yearly wage for foreign laborers must be no less than 1,500,000 KRW per month or no less then 60% of the average wage of Korean laborers. 

Change your status to E1 through E7

① Legal residences with Job seeking (D10) or Student (D2) visa are able to change their status to E-series visa

*Student visa holders (D2) only contains foreign students who are prospective graduates and eligible for Job seeking visa (D10). (only if the university diploma is achieved and necessary work experience is compromised, this candidate is able to apply for changing status to E7 visa)

② The field of occupation must be Professor (E1), Language instructor (E2), Research (E3), Technical instructor (E4), Professional positions (E5), Other special activities (E7).

* Adult entertainment and enterprise activities are excluded.

Pure arts and sports are allowed.

③The employment contract must be made with CEO or head of organization or company.

E7 visa is for specially designated activities by the Minister of Justice.

The new fields of occupation are recently added on May 1st.
