C4 VISA for performing artists.

Like a month ago, we've helped Australian DJ who's coming to perform in Korea getting a VISA here in Korea.

This DJ was invited for an after party of a newly launching brand's launching show, and Korean agency who's in charge of the work asked us about his visa issuance, and we successfully made it work.

Out of the activities enlisted in E6 VISA requirements, DJ goes to the name of performer, and is required to get the letter of performance recommendation by 'Korea Media Rating Board' and other documents for the application.

However, if the foreigner stays in Korea less than 90 days, you won't need to apply for E6 Visa but have to apply for a temporary working visa called C4 Visa.

C4 Visa enables you to work temporarily in Korea within 90 days.

In case of C4 application, a foreigner has to apply the visa at Korean Embassy overseas with following documents:

- Performance Recommendation Certificate issued by Korea Media Rating Board

- Certificate of employment

- Visa application form

-Business license of inviting agency, company

and so on.

The most important thing is getting a performance recommendation certificate.

To get E6 or C4, employment recommendation certificate or performance recommendation certificate are mandatory, and because DJ goes in to the performer category, we got a performance recommendation certificate.

Korea Media Rating Board divides a type of perfomance into two categories before issuing the certificate, either standard performance or performances for clubs/pubs.

To get a recommendation certificate for standard performance, we need following documents.

This is the application form which the agency writes for Visa. Inviting agency has to write a list of foreigners.

Performance brief sheet and profile also have to be prepared for application. This shows what the performance is about and how it is organized.

Performance contract is also a document for evaluation, and both the original and the translated contract have to be prepared.

Above is the photo of performance, and it is also used for evaluation of visa to show that the performance really exists, proving visa is not used in unallowed activities.

Last documents needed beneath all of the document mentioned above is a Rental contract of the performing area.

It takes 7 ~ 10 days to get the recommendation certificate, and if everything goes okay, we can get the following document.

The performance recommendation certificate sets the range of foreigner's activity which has to be followed of course.

All the documents in the process are in Korean since visa application for E6 or C4 is not the one where foreigners involved but agency or entertainment company.

However, in the case of C4 visa, the recipient has to deal with paper works including visa application AFTER he/she gets the recommendation certificate to the local Korean embassy.

There are few more documents needed for application, and after that you will be permitted to work temporarily here in Korea.
